ABAX has been exhibiting and displaying at the annual JALT conference since 1995.

Nagoya 1995

JALT 1995 was held in Nagoya and it was our first big conference to exhibit in as a company. We featured the ABAX Workbook for New Words and Expressions and the ABAX Miniature Letter Cards, as that was all we had.

Hiroshima 1996

The venue was at the conference center beside the Peace Park, which meant conference participants were within walking distance of all restaurants for post-conference relaxing.

Hamamatsu 1997

JALT 1997 was held in Hamamatsu at the ACT City convention complex. Hamamatsu, home to famed "Unagi Pie", cooked eel in pastry, was a popular choice amongst all the participants, as it was right beside the station and fairly easy for most people to get to.

Omiya 1998

JALT 1998 saw us at the Sonic City complex in Omiya. Just a short train ride north of Tokyo, Sonic City, being right beside the station, was a very popular choice.

Maebashi 1999

Jalt 1999 was held in Maebashi in the Green Dome, which in its other life is a velodrome. It was a little strange to have the conference in a velodrome, however it gave the conference a special atmosphere.

Shizuoka 2000

JALT 2000 was held in the Granship Conference Center which is right beside Higashi Shizuoka station. Many people found it to be a very convenient conference site.

Kitakyushu 2001

JALT was in the southern island of Kyushu for its 2001 Annual conference.

Shizuoka 2002

JALT 2002 saw us back at the Granship conference center enjoying the hospitality of the people of Shizuoka once again.

Shizuoka 2003

Back to the Granship for 2003 saw the addition of the International Food Fair, which was well appreciated by all the conference participants.

Nara 2004

Everybody agreed. This was a good one. The location created a fine ambience. Many good presentations and great speakers made this one of the better attended JALTs in recent history.

Shizuoka 2005

Shizuoka once again hosted JALT and as always the city was gracious and the site was good. The International Food Fair was back once again, providing a great spot for plenty of post conference unwinding! And many of us did quite a bit of unwinding!

Kitakyushu 2006

JALT moved down south for this one. Right beside the water, some of the venue rooms offered spectacular views giving the event a quiet ambience.

Tokyo, Yoyogi, 2007

Back in Tokyo for the first time in years. One of the best attended conferences in years. A very succesful conference, so much so that we'll be back in 2008!

Tokyo, Yoyogi, 2008

For 2008 we were back in Yoyogi. This year's JALT was earlier in the year, so the Exhibit Hall was much warmer. No need for jackets this year! A great time was had by all I think.

ABAX is proud to both support and participate in the Annual JALT conferences. We aim to be global participants in the English teaching profession and we work hard to add to the global discussion about our English classrooms. BACK
